Feeding + Lactation Supports

Saskatoon Breastfeeding Matters is a community-based not-for-profit organization of mothers and health professionals working together since 1988. We work to protect, promote and support breastfeeding in the community as a biological, ecological and cultural norm.

Our vision is to have healthy, happy mothers and children who are assured of adequate support in hospital, at home, in public places, and at work to meet their breastfeeding goals.

At Lifebridge Health Centre, we understand the importance of breastfeeding for both mother and child. Our services are designed to provide comprehensive support for new mothers embarking on this journey. Breastfeeding, while natural, can present challenges, and our expert lactation consultants are here to guide you through them.

While breastfeeding is a very natural process, it doesn’t always come naturally. There are many elements that come into play to make the experience a positive and nurturing one.

I am a Registered Nurse and Board Certified Lactation Consultant with over 20 years of clinical experience. I am passionate about moms and babies and I enjoy supporting them as they learn and grow together.

I began Family Foundations Therapy in order to bridge a gap in healthcare that I myself personally experienced. After giving birth to my daughter I was faced with situational and genetic risk factors that resulted in a diagnosis of Postpartum Depression and Anxiety. After learning about common postpartum experiences, I realized I had nothing to feel guilty about, or ashamed of and that I am not a bad mother. This is when I realized that it is time to normalize the transition from womanhood to motherhood and how I can contribute to the experience that mothers have.  By putting a language to the ‘new momma struggle’ we are able to embrace the inner shift that occurs, create better attachments to our babies, have better connections with our partners, family, friends and OURSELVES, which in turn we can live in calm, in happiness and be present for our world around us.

All babies benefit from human breast milk.

But for medically fragile or premature infants, breast milk is even more critical. Even life saving.

That’s where we come in.

The Saskatchewan Human Breast Milk Bank is advocates for the provision of lifesaving breast milk for premature babies, a critical service for families in our community.

The Saskatchewan Prevention Institute is committed to working collaboratively to promote primary prevention throughout the province. We share evidence-based information through print and web-based resources. We provide education and training on all of our areas of focus. We collaborate to help communities work towards primary prevention and meet their identified needs. Content experts and consumers of our information and training are involved to help us expand our programming.

Caring for Kids provides parents with information about their child’s health and well-being. Because the site is developed by the Canadian Paediatric Society — the voice of more than 3,600 Canadian paediatricians—you can be sure the information is reliable.
